Lifted this thread idea from the I.o.M. thread, thought I'd spread it around.The Deathborn
After the traitor legions defeat on Terra and the retreat back to the Eye of Terror there was much infighting and discord amongst the Legions. Legions fell upon one another, fell upon themselves, and sought to destroy those they felt brought about the failures on Terra. While little is known of Malefactours origin or even what legion he was born too, one thing is well known, his Deathborn have carved a niche in the Eye from which to rebuild his decimated warhost. Deep in the Eye, on the deathworld of Atherakhia, Malefactour broods, biding his time to rise to power and reclaim the galaxy.
"You may have been defeated, you may have lost favor with the capricious dieties your former brothers now dance for, for all intents and purposes you are dead to them, but you can be reborn in death, you can be Deathborn!"
Malefactour and his Deathborn still believe in the supremacy of man and find the fracturing of the legions to Gods and Daemons the greatest weakness and hinderance to the traitor legions rise to supremacy. The legion firmly believes in the power of Chaos in its "unsullied" form. This belief has brought countless assaults upon Atherakhia from traitors and daemons alike, forging the Deathborn into hardened fighters over the timeless centuries within the Eye.
The Acolytes of the Unborn are Malefactour's Librarians and Magi who after battles perform very much like the Medics of old, finding the near-dead and coaxing them from the brink to renounce their old ways and be Deathborn.
The world of Atherakhia is constantly swathed in storms and perpetual twilight and Malefactours Deathborn wear the colors of their adopted "paradise" as their heraldry, deep blues, purples, and greens chased with silver and platinum to represent the flashing lightning the crashes unceasingly across the world. The symbol of the warhost is the 8 pointed star of chaos entwined by a twisting bolt of lightning.
Reborn! Deathborn!
No special rules for my traitor host, I just wanted a backstory to allow me to paint up some of the faction specific models. I love the traitors for modelling options. I have a squad of World Eaters for example that I crudely hacked off the Khornate markings and replaced with the 8 pointed star device and painted in deep purple.
This is also where I first picked up the name that I've adopted for alot of my gaming, Malefactour, for those that were wondering.
