So the Necrons are animated automatons with the souls of those people who worshiped the C'tan... What kind of mechanic would they give the race since they are in fact undead. Free respawn? resistance death? I don't know so I am asking you guys.

they dont really have a free will (if your asking about potential playable race) but as far as traits you could add repair functions (so you need to take them down and then destroy the body) increased armour and immune to psykology

There are different ways they could go about this, high hit point regen or self rez on a cooldown, say 5 minutes.

Maybe a chance to come back to live (matter of speech) like in DoW when sometimes your warriors come back up at 33% health

depends on what type of necron i guess... but a chance for them to resurrect sounds cool.. and annoying.. ^^

The only mechanic I ever needed to know about Necrons was 'piss-easy to paint' ;)

If they did end up as a PC race - which I doubt but fingers crossed! - I think some kind of auto-res would be cool and appropriate, though perhaps different abilities for each class. I'm sure other races could easily be given abilities to compensate.

I see them being similar to the dark / shadow / death knight of many other MMOs having skill trees that allow them to tank and dps effectively. Or perhaps a dark tank/healer hybrid. There are alot of cool possibilities but it will all depend on if they go with skill trees or over specialized PC types where you can only be one type of necron and thats it.

yeah, well.. they won't be a playable race in the the first release. Maybe an expansion will add them as a third faction..

I think the beginning toons should have a free respawn, with a 5 min cool down, which can be effected positively ( ie reduced cool down time) by the higher level toons abilities and specialised abilities from other classes. Necron lords with a resurection orb, tomb spider pets, and scarabs that help with ressurections. theres all kinds of wonderful cannon based things they can use to make the Necrons act and look and feel like tabletop necrons.

I would love to see this faction and would gladly play them. Theres tons of great mechanics they could use that would make them perfect.

Higher level warriors could have passive AoE buffs to the nearby warriors, which ad to their tanking ability, or their self repair abilities. Just think of all the stuff they could do with Lords and tomb spiders!!! It would be epic.
