I cant really see Dreadnaughts being playable as it would break the lore unless you were always a dreadnaught. I think your right about the Titans and pilots. It would have to be a high up Adeptus Mechanicus member. Its not like you can sit in the guns and fire them either like Luke in the Millenium Falcon.

To be fair yes it could be that a player for the Adeptus Mechanicus could control the titan. After all, the Mechanicus did build them!

Additionally, I'm reminded of the book Dark Adeptus. Where a Tech Priest 'possessed' a Titan for some time. :o

Also so far I can say that SM/IG/Adeptus Mechanicus are in the game in some shape/form (based on footage)

I was re-reading some of the interviews so far. Specifically this one: http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/12/04/warhammer-40k-dark-millennium-online-a-grim-dark-future/

Quote:
It’s not just your character you’ll be customising: mechanised war machines are central to DMO, as they are to the 40K fiction. The game’s first trailer teases viewers, ending on footage of a five-storey walker romping across a blasted landscape. That two- legged monster was a Titan, one of 40K’s largest and most killy war- bastards – and Dave confirms that a player was controlling it. “You’ll use vehicles in PvE, you’ll use them in the general over-world, and you’ll use them in PvP.” These vehicles can be run with a crew, separate players taking on the roles of gunner, driver, and man who stands on top and yells “DRIVE FASTER!”

Or, you can go it alone. “In a tank, you control the primary turret, but you don’t have the full command of all the weapons on the tank. If someone jumps in the primary turret then you might just be driving.” 40K’s grab-bag of lethal vehicular toys makes this prospect a tasty one: the game’s first trailers clearly point at a number of the universe’s iconic battle-tanks, such as the Predator. Handling is pitched somewhere between simplistic and simulation, but Vigil are keen to keep the physical connection: glide toward another player on a turbo-charged bike and you’ll thunk into them: “you can’t drive through another tank like it isn’t there. That just looks weird.” Mike singled out the PvP battlegrounds as a particular hotbed of vehicle use, but wouldn’t be drawn into explaining quite how they’ll work when used against your fellow human.

That suggests to me that the Titan is PvE. Which would make sense, I suspect the player is giving it orders rather than piloting it. Then he goes on to the PvP bit and players multi controlling. But I may be reading it wrong.

From 1:46 onwards.

Yea one has to be careful when reading that! But he doesn't actually say anything about players sitting in a Titan's cockpit and controlling it. Which is good.

Also the Titan they showed is a baby Titan. . I hope we get to see an Imperator in the game!

From that video it seems that Space Marines will fall under the 'Imperium of Man'. So I wonder if that means our Human choices will be limited to something like Space Marine, Imperial Guard or Tech Priest...as far as IoM goes. :?

Im a little late on this conversation but i would like the abilaty to pull a Wadika and drive my bike through a titans cockpit shoot every one inside of it and then escape as it blows up in the back round. Basicly what im saying is i want some way to take over my enemies vehicles (in this case titan) as a simple ground troop with a jet pack or like scale its leg or something.

I think I might have posted this somewhere else, but it'd be neat to have vehicle "schematics" that you can acquire through PvE means and have your guild work on the parts to put it all together. This might be lore sensitive, but I still think it's kinda neat.
And maybe you can get small schematics for smaller, personal transports aka mounts. They can make those common drops from mobs and maybe rare drops from perhaps PvP activities (not necessary players). Running up to a vendor and buying it would be rather silly for a new mmo.

That can add more progression to the game as well. A guild just starting out can be making smaller tanks, while high end guild can be working on a Titan for example.

Besides, approaching a vehicle and pressing E to enter it is just old and no longer innovative.

I see no problem with players controlling Titans especially scout class 'baby' warhound ones, though I do agree that for the player's in game character the lack of training would need a little explaining (and break the lore a bit) since Titan crews are very specialised.

According to the fluff A Warhound titan has a crew of 12 including 4 servo skulls.
Of the living crew the majority (9) have an engineering role and principally attend to the engine, repairs and reactor, 3 actually pilot the machine and control the guns. A Princeps and two Moderatii who are bound together into the 'mind' of the titan.

Having Titans in PVP would be great fun and fine provided they were available to all sides in limited numbers. :)

I like the idea of finding schematics and such. Every "world" needs an aspect of mystery for it to feel like more than a video game, and the lore definitely allows for undiscovered tech. I'm hoping they take the game in this direction, but not with constant power increases through discoveries. Versatility, speed, different player configurations (while driving, such as gun placements) are all great benefits to having special gear, and it doesn't automatically make one group more powerful than the other due to time spent.
