fire warrior did something along those lines, even thought it was incredibly unpopular. and retribution expansion does as well, which you are clearly aware of. But its simply the problem of a game not having space marines as the main characters that is a 1st or 3rd person shooter is they cannot get enough appeal. going something like this, "Hey, buy our game. It is based off Wh40k, a universe with spacemarines, total badasses and the typical good guy with big guns. but you wont be playing a space marine. you will be playing an ork, and the only ork advantage is they have about 10 billion units of cannon fodder. you are ONE of those units. you will most likely die in the first wave, and for the rest of the campaign we will be enjoying a romantic comedy." space marines are chosen "every time" because they are worth so much more, they are stronger faster better than all other races, there are just fewer of them. at least thats how they play it uu for marketing reasons. which is about all that matters when the company is looking for sales, not making a game for the sake of a game.

Yeah sure, chaos. LOVE chaos. All i was saying was why i think space marines are over used, I wasn't saying anything about the other races.

What I meant to say was why not chaos? You said space marines are super badasses and all. Chaos space marines haven't been used as a main character in a game, i think.

well being evil is one point, although many great games have been from the view point of the villain. But again, they are weaker than space marines, simply because their armor and weapons are outdated. Their strength lies in gifts from the gods, cunning, and brutality. For a game that requires more ingenuity and connivery, chaos would be the perfect fit. It just seems more games nowadays are about being badasses with really big guns and way too much health.

Though the possibility of a horror based, mature rated, action rpg pitting Chaos Marines against the denizens of the Eye of Terror would seriously kick ass!

agreed. There would be a lot to explore with a game like that.
