I'm sure you've all read this already, but I think it deserves an Off-Topic post.

I have found that this is a pretty decent list of everything I hate about MMOs, but whatever works.

Hmmm I must be broken. I quit every MMO due to it becoming a grind and no longer being fun. Some were harder to leave than others, but that was more of the social aspect.

Though my earlier MMOs did keep my attention longer than the more current stuff. Maby becuse they were so new (MMO in general). The PvP centric ones keep me around alot longer than the WoW type overall.

They tend to keep my attention between 1 and 2 years give or take. Anarchy Online and Horizons were the exceptions with just a few hours played.

I think that the reason why people can lose interest is that in a skinner box, the rat/mouse cannot LEAVE the box, while a gamer can leave at anytime. Otherwise, we would all be answering the our blizzard overlords.

I think if the rat/mouse knew what was out there in this wide world of ours, it would want to stay in the box.

Thats just basic high school marketing and psychology applied to a specific genre of Video Game its nothing that doesnt happen to just about every consumer based aspect of our lives in some form or another.
