They stated directly that it would be very similar to STO. If you haven't played STO look it up. No aiming... you click/tab closest target and weapons fire based on cooldown/range/type of weapon function (Different weapons may have alternate modes of fire, buttstroke, bayonet, ect..)Melee weapons have alternate types of striking (Slow powerful hit, stunning hit, fast strike, block). As far as psyker abilities.. imagine Champions Online where there are "active" abilities, "tap" abilities, "charge" abilities, ect... Actions are interuptable based on attacks that stun and actions that are breakable such as charge actions. Cover is related to LOS. If an indiviual is behind cover.. you can't target and if you had a lock your weapon will not fire until LOS is obtained. Partial cover grants reduction in damage... STO was loads of fun doing the away team fighting... they just made it too easy to stun people and perform disintegrations.
Where did they say it would have STO-like gameplay?
I've only seen this, from GazD's rumor post:
- Possible shooter/RPG mode controls, like StarTrek Online.
- Third person action, plays like Gears of War/Space Marine mixed together for shooting.
- Melee is more like Space Marine/Darksiders, with the target lock on.
And from the looks of the trailer, I think we'll be able to tab-target those behind cover.
What's the issue that people have with tab targeting? If a game required you to aim, but still had tab targeting, is it still bad? I consider the ability to target an enemy extremely useful; it allows me to keep track of the target, use certain spells that don't have travel times (like mind blast from WoW, which wouldn't work without a target), and it shows others who I'm attacking.
