So I have been thinking, and everyone thinks that Vigil will keep up this trend of one part of the whole, like just using Black Templar. We have extended this and tired to guess what one craft world, chaos legion, or Ork waaagh they would be bringing in as well.

Do you guys think that Vigil should limit the fight to just one from each faction? While it may help to make a solid story by one haveing one legion, waaagh, ect it would also be a loss not to include or at least have each represented in some small way.

The way I see black templar being used in DMO is like how they used Knights of the blazing sun from WAR. There were many orders of knights they could chose from, but they chose Kotbs because it would flow well with the class mechanic (command auras) since Kotbs are know for being military advisors. In the same way they chose BT to use lore to make our SM into a class that will fill one or two well defined rolls instead of being able to fill in any roll. Personally I like it. I know quite a few people who will not, but I do believe that SM need to be limited in what they can do.

To me this isn't that big of a deal tbh. One chapter, waaaagh or legion, or many of them.. as long as we get the large scale battlefields, as well as the small skirmishes.
But on the other hand, many chapters would present a deeper story and more options for the players, which is always welcome.

In the end though I imagine they'll go with just the one playable chapter etc. and maybe add NPC from others. Maybe in certain epic quest or raid. And I think they'll do this because it will save time and money.. if they were able to, I definitely think they'd add as many different chapters, legions, carftworlds, waaaagh's etc. as possible.

It doesn't make any sense to have every group represented. The galaxy is a huge, huge place. There can't possibly be factions from every Imperial Guard world, every space marine chapter, every craftworld, every traitor legion. That would be pandering to the fans in the most insulting fashion. I wouldn't mind having one main group per side (so, for SM, just Black Templars) but maybe have a couple individuals from some other chapters involved in a very limited capacity. Nothing major, but enough to give a touch of diversity and show laypeople that it's not just the Black Templars. Ditto for the rest. But not all (or most) and not in any significant faction. Maybe, y'know, one world has a half-squad of Ultramarines sent there to defend a certain area which is important to Ultramarines. Or a space hulk area which has some Deathwatch marines involved. That kind of thing.

It's almost certain you'll see a nonplayable faction here and there. It's almost de facto policy for mmos based on pre-existing lores.

Black Templars, Goffs, World Eaters and ...

You shouldn't have to add the orginal Ork Clans, Custom Clans seem more likely [and better] as no Clan would just distinctively travel to the Sargos Sector to start a Waaaugh. and I really don't see all Eldar Craftworlds teleporting en masse to a single Sector when there is so few of them.

The Eldar involved in DMO are called "Eldar Exiles" so I have to wonder whether they'll have any craftworld affiliation at all.

Do you have a link to this, because I can't recall seeing anything related to playable Eldar released yet?

I have no idea why people keep saying the exiles are playable... the only place is says that is wikipedia [why the hell do people believe that site is beyond me] and that could probably just be hype.

Here is an article in which a guy at mmorpg.com asks devs about races, and they only response they get on eldar is "you will not be disappointed"

http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/f ... ions-.html

No where does it say eldar exiles are playable.

Ah, I didn't know it was on wikipedia, I never bother with wikis for the most part, though the Lexicanum is a fun site to read.

Playable Factions

"From a THQ private company conference concerning E3 presentation plan[citation needed]:

Imperium has been confirmed as a playable race (PC Gamer).
Eldar Exiles will be available as a playable race (AG.ru)."
wikipedia takes it from AG.ru, but of course that is in cyrillic. Unless anyone here can read russian, we're still in the dark as to whether its accurate.
