Playable inquisitors would contravene not only the fluff...
I don't think they'll care too much about that, they'll probably find a way to 'bend' the lore to their needs. It just goes back to the whole MMO "EVERYONE MUST BE A HERO!" rubbish, which frankly pushes me, personally, away from the majority of MMOs.
If it is an Inquisitor then I would lay bets that it will be Ordo Malleus Inquisitors - they've removed choice from Space Marines, as in being able to pick your Chapter, so why give choice to the Inquisitor class?
Well certainly Games Workshop wouldn't give a fuck if they had armies of inquisitors roaming the battlefield. They didn't care when Mythic made witch hunters a front line combat class that started at level 1 in that shitty Warhammer Online game. So yeah, if Vigil decides that inquisitors are something they think non-WH40k fans would like to see as a class then they'll have no obstacle preventing them from letting people play as a level 1 inquisitor killing rats with a wooden sword.
That said, I agree with the "you're a hero" shit. Does anyone actually fall for that shit? Yeah, you're such a hero, just like the other 1000 people on your server who're your race/class. So heroic.
