If they put in Guardsmen and it would be heretical(and a foolish business move) not to what regiment would you want? We all know Cadians are the number one go to regiment for whatever needs guardsmen but what regiment would you prefer to see?

I would prefer Vostroyans; granted not all terrain in Sargos will be snow or cities but the uniform is more colorful yet still displays the grim feel of 40k, their weapons are more unique, and they seem like a regiment Black Templar's would prefer to fight along side. Both being pious to a fault and the hat is awesome. Seriously its one of my favorite Guard uniforms and designs as well as their weapon schemes.

And while it would be nice to have a good ole fashion circle jerk about how much we hate seeing cadians everywhere its not productive. We know cadians are everywhere we know olive green flak plates and khakis get old but its not the time or place.

Edit: Also remember each regiment may have a specialty but you can't throw a rock without finding a regiment that deviates some way from its normal setup.

Well out of that list;

Vostroyan: No thanks, don't like 'em at all
Catachan: I really don't like the models but as a lore kind-of-thing they're alright
Steel Legion: Quite a cool bunch but not overly my cup of tea.
Mordian Iron Guard: Badass to a tee. They turn up in paradeground uniforms & kick absolute backside! My third choice.
Valhallan: As cool as they are I don't like their battle tactics of massed artillery followed by dozens of infantry waves.
Tallarn: Very much the underdogs in terms of army choice, and Forgeworld do some lovely models, but I've never been a fan.
Cadians: The generic Imperial Guard Regiment. I love their armour & fatigues (except the helmets), their M36 lasguns, but I don't like Cadia. My personal army uses Cadian models. In fact it is a Cadian regiment. Not a Cadian on strength though. 'tis a long story... They'd be my number 2 choice because of their kit.

And the winner is...

Other (Please Specify): Death Korps of Krieg.

The grimmest & most fatalistic soldiers of the Imperium. Their weapons, equipment, armour, fatigues, heavy weapons, armour, artillery - all look fantastic. They are at home fighting where ever they are dispatched, especially if it is trench/siege warfare. Their tanks & artillery, weapons & equipment evoke a very dark, gritty feel. They look the best, to me, and are the best soldiers in the Imperium.

Check Forgeworld and tell me you would not want to run around a battlefield looking like these guys.

Chances are it -will- be 'Cadian' equipped troops but what Regiment we don't know. If I were able to decide for them then damn all the standard Regiments, damn all the plastics, damn the pansy Catachans and all the others - Krieg are the best of all.

In my humble opinion of course ;)

Edited poll to add Krieg and i hate that i forgot them.

Krieg and Vostroyans for me. Vostroyans for a regal and lighter look yet still dark and Krieg for the superbly dark and grim look.

Elysian or Death Korps.

tbh, I never really liked the Imperial Guard. They're not even respected by the Imperium, just brothers and sons to be culled at the whim of their oppressors. imo, Elysian are the best - glorious paratroopers!

I too am torn between Elysian and Death Korps.

Death Korps look like pure death. When I look at them it makes me think of Necrons.. and nazis.
But the Elysian's tactics seems like an incredibly fun way to play the game.

No.. oddly not. I think it's because they don't so much remind me of the actual nazis, but rather nazis portrayed in some computer games.. games like Wolfenstien and RtCW, and to some degree Wolfenstien 3D.
However I am fully aware of the fact that the Death Korps are more comparable to WW1 German soldiers than those from WW2.

Same; i think its just relation to Germany and when we think World War Germany we jump to WWII. I know i do that based on not doing much study of WWI in school.
