Valve...now there IS a thought. They are the one games company that I stillhave faith in.

Yeah good point, they've plenty of free cash from running steam and are well aware of the draw the 40k games have since they sell a fair few of em.

If it wasn't already said, I'd say Valve as well. They have some geniuses working there, and they're the kind of company that wouldn't get pissy when it came down to the brass tacks.

Valve would rock, but honestly I would be more than happy to put money upfront to see this come out.

This is oddly relevant, to the current issues with DMO40k

http://kotaku.com/5883620/gamers-donate ... a-new-game

If we all want to get together and put up a we would like THQ and vigil to make DMO40K how about we put up some money ans say Look we want to Help out, and make sure the games we want get made.

That is a great idea antz, i would throw in a little something to see this game come to fruition, also seeing valve involved in the mmo would be very awsome, but we would need to make them aware of how large of a loyal community there would be for the game to make it financally viable for them to become a financial partner

So in light of this new information, what companies would you, my fellow fan forum junkies, put on the top of your list to help bring DMO to market and why?

I'll open with Trion, because they stepped into the MMOsphere with a very successful freshmen effort in Rifts and I like underdogs, lol.

Bethesda

Firstly Skyrim has proven to be a runaway success, and a quite recent one at that, so they won't be deeply committed to making a new game just yet and will be both flushed with success and cash.

Secondly they are a well respected programming house with a solid understanding of just what makes a game great and some interesting ideas as regards making a 'living' environment that could be well adapted to the MMO genre, not to mention having an excellent programming team.

Finally and maybe most importantly they are likely considering the possibility of making an Elder scrolls MMO of their own, so helping out in a MMO set in a very popular IP that is both unlikely to lose them money, is completely different in genre from their classical fantasy setting, and will allow them an opportunity to gain some experience in the whole design, launch and maintenance phases of an MMO, can only be a good thing.

Same here.

I would personally have some small reservations about any company stepping in to help out. Generally, when people step in to lend money to a project they tend to feel their opinions are a necessary byproduct of that monetary investment, which is fair as it's their money.

Any company that has had a major success, EA, Bethesda, Valve, Blizzard, <insert name of your favorite game company that could come to the rescue>, would be very tempted, I feel, to offhandedly try to offer help where it potentially is not needed.

What needs to happen is a fan based fundraiser; similar to the article posted above. I love 40k and even enjoy the bad games as I love the immersion I can create for myself that the game may not provide fully. This is the first MMO where the prospect of doing RP is actually something I want to do.

I would happily give money to this cause as I know others would. There is nothing stopping Vigil/THQ from coming up with some system for rewarding people that donate; something akin to a pre-order bonus. Just an idea; donate $X and receive item-X at launch, or access to special shop with X-items. Something like this would not only reward people that want this game no matter what, but it might even elicit interest from people on the fence to give a small donation of $5.

What we as fans need to do is petition THQ to set up a donation plan for DMO. We need to show them that there are people willing to help, even if all it does is get my name in a book under "donation contribution." If THQ did this not only would it gain the game buzz because of the donations but this could attract a publishing partner more easily as it could more clearly see a fan base that would make the game successful.

THQ is in dire straights and so is the game. If we want to see this game happen we need to push for it from the masses and not let the industry dictate whether this game comes out. It is on us the fans. Plus, it would be wonderful if we had more information on the game... :P

Nexon - Both Vindictus and Dragon Nest have proven to be successes in the Free To Play MMO market. Plus, they have the NA version of Dungeon Fighter Online, another great MMO. However, this is unlikely as they specialize in Korean/Asian MMOs for the most part.

or

Cryptic/Perfect World International - Cryptic holds both Star Trek Online and Champions Online. They were also behind City of Heroes before leaving NCSoft to work on their own MMOs, recently they have been bought by PWI. Champions Online is an AWESOME game and trumps both City of Heroes and DC Universe.
